Publicity 2021

Eastbourne’s prize-winning Butterfly Creek Theatre Troupe celebrates 25 years of Shakespeare with a Bard in the Yard outdoor production of his magical, romantic, tragi-comedy The Winter’s Tale.

A fairy tale of how love, laughter, music and dance can bring light to the darkest of times. The play that in 1611 reopened the London theatres after the plague will do the same for a new year of theatre in Eastbourne: “Purge all infection from our air”. For five nights only, celebrate the magic and joy of live performance with us! ‘Welcome hither – as is the spring to the earth.’

And because of COVID: “A quick update in the light of Alert Level 2. If we are still at that Alert Level next week we plan to proceed with our production of The Winter’s Tale (23 – 27 February) but with safe, spaced seating and, sadly, no food or drink service. Numbers will be further limited so please get tickets now if you want to be sure of a seat”

An online reading of the play in April 2020 – during COVID lockdown

This is a not very good recording taken at the Dress Rehearsal of a Zoom presentation of a rehearsed reading of The Winter’s Tale. Sadly the recording of the actual performance (Tuesday 28 April 2020 – during the Covid19 lockdown) didn’t work.
