Publicity 2014
or 2014’s outdoor summer Bard in the Yard production the Troupe brings the greatest love story of them all to the magical Muritai School Yard.
Shakespeare’s superb tale of tragic young love will be brought to life in a simple, timeless production that focuses on the story, the people and the passion.
For this production, Director John Marwick has chosen the pared-back style of some of his earlier Bard in the Yard successes including Much Ado and All’s Well. “It’s startling: when there’s no set and very simple, stylised costumes – the drama and tragedy, the language and the human connection shine through,” John says.
This production brings a great group of actors together – some with years of experience, some new to the stage – many young, some not so – but all are talented, committed and thrilled to be bringing the Bard’s great story and characters to the Bays.
Come and join us as the summer sun goes down over the Eastern Bays. The production will be for just five nights – at 7.30 Tuesday to Saturday 4 – 8 March – and it will be outdoors in the specially-built stage area at Eastbourne’s Muritai School – so bring warm clothes (if it’s wet or really miserable we move into the floor of the adjoining school hall). Doors (and the bar) open at 7 p.m.
The venue is restricted to 100 seats and they quite often sell out – book now and be sure that you don’t miss out!
