Butterfly Creek Theatre Troupe: Get Involved
Since our beginnings about 1987, we have become an award-winning non-profit community theatre group based in Eastbourne, on the east side of Wellington Harbour, New Zealand. Our members – people like you – are directors, actors, crew and supporters from the wider Wellington region.
Most of our performances are in the local school grounds or the school hall stage, where we also have our scenery, costumes, lighting rigs, sound gear, and back-of-house facilities.
We usually do an outside Shakespeare production each summer, and two winter/spring stage productions from all genres.

We welcome members of all ages and skill levels to be part of our productions and support network.
Or just to be part of our community, for which you will get a free ticket to a show: of much the same value as the annual subscription!
Of course hard work and dedication is required sometimes, but we mostly prioritise the opportunities to socialise, learn new skills, and grow into different challenges.
Acting:
Whether you are a maestro, a diva, a veteran or a beginner, or maybe only want to gain experience in a particular type of role, our range of plays and resources are a great place to strut your stuff, dabble, or develop your skills.

Support crews:
Plays need people to design and build the sets, do the graphics and marketing, assist with rehearsals, organise the costumes, manage the props, compile sound tracks, sort out the lighting, do the makeup, run the performance nights, provide front of house support, and all sorts of help and management.

Directing:
The Director has overall creative control of a production: maybe you could grow into this role by working alongside an experienced thespian? We are keen to chat with anyone who wants to take on this role, or who has a play they want to do, or perhaps just knows of a play they think is worth doing. Get in touch!
