A Little Hotetl on the Side is pure farce – fast, furious and very funny. The play was written and set in the Naughty Nineties – that’s the 1890s – by French playwright Georges Feydeau in collaboration with Maurice Desvalières (original 1894 title L’Hôtel du libre échange). Some may remember a 1966 film Hotel Paradiso adapted from a West End production and starring Alec Guinness and Gina Lollobrigida. The more recent translation and adaptation we will be using was written by English playwright Sir John Mortimer (Rumpole of the Bailey) for Britain’s National Theatre.
