AUDITIONS – 7 August

A Little Hotel on the Side
directed by John Marwick
A Little Hotel on the Side is pure farce – fast, furious and very funny. The play was written and set in the Naughty Nineties – that’s the 1890s – by French playwright Georges Feydeau in collaboration with Maurice Desvalières (original 1894 title L’Hôtel du libre échange). Some may remember a 1966 film Hotel Paradiso adapted from a West End production and starring Alec Guinness and Gina Lollobrigida. The more recent translation and adaptation we will be using was written by English playwright Sir John Mortimer (Rumpole of the Bailey) for Britain’s National Theatre.
There’s a big cast – 9 men, 4 women, 4 girls and a number of extras (both men and women). Several of the parts are smaller cameo roles and I’m really keen that these are just as strong as the main cast – and hopefully the same will go for extras playing porters, police officers and ladies of the night.
Anyone can audition – regardless of experience. I’m also very keen to hear from anyone who can offer their help on the technical side – it’s a challenging set, costumes, props
